I slipped on some sliders at home — ones I probably shouldn’t have worn, but I did anyway. That decision led to 8 weeks of ACC compensation.

It happened with a loud pop that even woke my flatmate at night. I was just running downstairs and turning on the floor when a tiny 1 cm slip was enough to crack my ankle bone as it twisted.

It’s incredible how little it takes to stop you in your tracks. Suddenly, having a shower on one leg, unable to put weight on the other, becomes a huge challenge.

At the hospital, the doctor told me to buy painkillers because, as he said, the pain was coming.

Strangely, I barely felt any pain — maybe just 3% of what I expected. It only hurt when I moved the foot directly or hit it.

I think it was rutin, a compound known to fight inflammation. I had plenty of it in my blood, thanks to eating roasted buckwheat kasha every day for lunch over the past 13 months.

So despite having a cracked bone and a fully sprained ankle, my swelling and inflammation were surprisingly mild.

I truly felt the amazing benefits of buckwheat — helping heal injuries and reduce excessive swelling. It’s incredible!

Now I can walk and exercise again without much pain.

Twisted ankles are a very common injury — I see someone in a moon boot almost every day. Including kasha in your diet can help you recover faster and be ready to get back on your feet sooner!
